Titan Con
FULLERTON, CA (March 31, 2019)
Titan Con, it’s fourth installment known as the Fourth Blast, is a university campus college event put together by the students of CSUF (California State College of Fullerton). Every year brings together mainly locals of Southern California in celebration of all things anime, manga, and cosplay. Guest lists range from a whole array of local cosplayers, maid groups, and entertainment groups.
This year we saw that they had a different layout from past years with all panels, event rooms, and guests inside the student center in which you had to have purchased entry into. While outside in the student square/courtyard area; Artist Alley and Exhibitors were displayed so many fans may peruse and listen to entertainment on the main stage as they shopped. There were many pros and cons to this method. People may shop freely without having to purchase a ticket, but unfortunately due to the windy nature of the weather that Sunday it was slightly difficult for sellers not having their merchandise fly away. A small setback on what was a logistically brilliant idea to make sure that their vendors got their sales. On the other hand if you did purchase a ticket the student center held may activities like; the maid cafe, gaming rooms, karaoke, and even Fullerton’s basement activities (such as bowling, billiards, and etc). Food was available on location for purchase from local eatery Gaja (a brilliant and authentic Osaka style Okonomiyaki) which always has specials and happy hours for the hungry people. Wide varieties of vending machines were also present for guests looking for snacks instead of someone looking for a whole meal.
On the aspects of location wise, the campus is gorgeous with plenty of places to take photos all around. We enjoyed seeing the many cosplayers and photoshoots being held; as well as the variety of shoots that could be done due to the different terrains as you walk along the campus grounds. It also was a very big plus that there was tons of shade provided so people did not have to deal with the small heat rising that we had that Sunday.
Overall it was a wholesome event put together by really passionate students that enjoy what they do. We had a great time going to the event and enjoyed all the things that the location was able to provide us.
