EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE MAIDS AND BUTLERS

It was once again May 4th: Star Wars Day, where fans are celebrating the lore of Star Wars, casual fans are passing by and smiling at the madness, and non-fans not caring, and just going on the internet, where they are seeing Star Wars memes over and over. In other words: The Force is strong… and inescapable.

More evident of this is at Ultrazone Laser Tag, a laser tag and arcade located in Sherman Oaks. On Wednesday, Ultrazone was taken over for a May the Fourth Celebration and Fundraiser, sponsored by Gatekeeper’s Sweet and Dagger in collaboration with Tokari, an event they have once done last year at the Brewery Complex in Los Angeles.

The event included a “Tokari Cantina” room, where light snacks and beverages were served. They showed a variety of movies and TV episodes, from screening Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens to something out of nowhere like How to Train Your Dragon (it was audience choice).

One of the highlights was a raffle prize, which was a box of exclusive anime goods and maid favorites, along with a gift card.

But, of course, this is a laser tag place, and you have to have people be like Stormtroopers, firing their blasters all over the place.

The key event of this celebration is the laser tag challenge. The winner would win a $25 dollar gift card. Sadly, the Force wasn’t strong with this one, because the challenge was to defeat Butler Mon Ban, which they couldn’t. At the end of the day, they all received handmade goodie bags.

All proceeds go to funding for a physical location for a Sweet and Dagger restaurant, so may the Force be with them.

Here’s to hoping there will be an Episode III.
